Dr. Bruce Haslem

Bruce is currently a Associate Professor of Finance in the School of Business at Southern Utah University. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in finance at Utah State University, he he enrolled in the MBA program at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and eventually earned a PhD in Finance. Prior to SUU he was a faculty member at Florida State University. Along the way, he served on the board of directors for a small start-up that helped eliminate wastewater from oil and natural gas extraction. He is the proud father of six children and the lucky husband of an awesome wife of 25 years. He is also incredibly boring and reads books in his free time.

Bruce has published several publications in top academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Law and Economics, where he focuses on the impact litigation and regulation has on company valuations and decision making.

Stephen Engst

Stephen joined the faculty in the Fall of 2019 as a full-time Lecturer of Finance in the School of Business.  He came to SUU after 34 years in the private sector. Steve worked at Commodities Corp (programmer/analyst), Goldman Sachs Asset Management (portfolio manager), and ClaraVista Capital Management (independent CTA).  In 1984, Steve earned a BS in Ag Econ, Rutgers and in 1991 a Certificate in Applied Science, Software Engineering, Harvard.
