2016 SUU Undergraduate Philosophy Conference

Thank you for joining us in celebrating undergraduate scholarship both at Southern Utah University and across the country. The students in the philosophy club, with help from myself and Dr. Fitzpatrick, put together a particularly impressive undergraduate philosophy conference that we held here on SUU's campus on Saturday, Feb. 6th.

Dr. Brian Collins (California Lutheran University) presented a paper titled,

"The Ethics of Following the Law."

In addition to Dr. Collins' work, we heard the following papers:

"Defending Infinity"

Cori Evensen, Utah Valley University

Commentary by SUU's own: Katie Barnes

"Generic Liberal Ideals and the Problem of Institutional Virtue"

Ross Jensen, University of Utah

Commentary by SUU's own: Joel Ontiveros

"A Philosophical Characterization of Quantum Physics Paradigms"

Ian Nicolas, Pacific University

Commentary by SUU's own: Rachel Bottema and Ethan Sizemore

"Two Profiles of Exploited Labor: 17th and 18th Century Europe and the Neoclassical Vision"

Julia Kolak, William Paterson University of New Jersey
